New Location
& New Name

We are opening a new location at 10801 Garland Road under the name
Lucky Dog Books. We have used this name online for many years and think
that it will be a more fun name for the stores themselves.

When the Lakewood store moves to a new location, it will also use the new name. At some point the Mesquite store will follow suit.

Store credit will work just the same and be honored at any Paperbacks Plus or Lucky Dog Books location in the Dallas area as will gift certificates for each location.

This building will allow us to have the sort of store we think most of you enjoy. Roomy, comfortable and relaxed. It also has the best parking of any building we have been in. And we have an option to buy this building later this year which should better provide for a long term future for this location.

This shop will also have a program room similar to the one we have had on La Vista in that it will be like a large living room that can be rearranged as needed and available on the same basis. Different in that it is on the ground floor since this is a one story place, which should actually make it better for author signings and the like.

Although we did not originally intend for this to be the case, it looks like this will be our closest location to the Lakewood area for some time to come. We had hoped that this would just be an additional location to something in that area and that it would bring our services to a very large section of Dallas and Garland that seems to have nothing of this type.

Many have thought that the Lakewood shop was worth driving a bit to be able to enjoy it. We certainly plan to make a store here that will be worth the trip for those of you who used to be very close to the La Vista building. (Good excuse to enjoy the drive or ride past the lake.)

Please give it a try. We think you will like it. It is a little different in some ways.

New Location Coming
In North Oak Cliff

As most of you know by now, we are very sad to have to leave what has been a wonderfully supportive and interesting neighborhood for so many years by closing Paperbacks Plus in the Lakewood area of East Dallas at 6115 La Vista.

However, we are very happy to be able to announce that we will be opening another new location, besides the one on Garland Road, under the name Lucky Dog Books. This one will be in North Oak Cliff, near the Bishop Arts Disrict at 633 W. Davis Street.

It is between Bishop and Tyler/Polk across from Bolsa Mercado. The phone number will be 214-823-7451 when open.

We hope to be open prior to April 1st even if everything isn't quite on the shelves yet. Store credit and gift certificates from the other locations will of course be honored here as well.

And, items will be sent back and forth between the stores as needed. So feel free to call one of the others if the one closest to you doesn't have what you need.

We have heard from lots of folks over the years that we should put a store in the area which hasn't enjoyed the services of a general used boostore since Half-Price left their old Zangs address about a couple of decades ago.

We are excited to move into this particular building, especially since it has an architectural feature that has not graced any of our previous spaces. It will give this store a very different feel from our others before this one.

We want to thank those of you who have already contacted us with welcomes to the area, and those who have expressed an interest in working in the new shop. But we like to single out the two real estate fellows that worked with us to try to get a bookstore to Oak Cliff. Joe McElroy and Charlie Perdue were great to work with and each had the best interests of Oak Cliff at heart.
