ANNOUNCEMENT
SECOND UPDATE: Wednesday, January 18, 2012

We are now open at 10801 Garland Road as Lucky Dog Books.

All the books are not on the shelves yet and we still have some more lighting to add, but there is a lot of stuff that is ready and we will become more useful to more and more of you everyday.

The main sign has not yet been changed, so please look for the street address or a message on the changeable part of our sign about Lucky Dog Books and Paperbacks Plus. We are right beside Casa Linda Bakery and Tran Computers. If you get to the old Lochwood Shopping Center where Home Depot is, you just went too far.

We still have the doors open at the La Vista store, but more and more has been boxed and is being moved each day. So, if you are in the area and want to see if some things that interest you are still available, please feel free to come on in.

We will not be accepting any incoming stuff at the La Vista store except for a small bag or box. Anything more substantial should be brought to either Garland Road or the Mesquite store, where we are beginning to rebuild many of the shelves there in order to provide more selection especially in the paperback fiction categories.

FIRST UPDATE: Monday, January 9, 2012

(Please scroll down for original announcement and more details of this situation.)
The date for moving the Lakewood store has been extended until January 25th, 2012, from the orignal agreed upon date of January 5th.

We should be opening the doors on a NEW location
in a few days at 10801 Garland Road
,
(street view on this link shows us behind a line of crepe myrtles)

about the same time we finally have to close the doors in Lakewood.

We are putting books on the shelves there as fast as we can now, but it is bigger than the ground floor on La Vista so it takes a while. Please wait until you see a further announcement here or on our Facebook page that says we are ready for visitors. Right now it would just slow us down.

This is not where the Lakewood store is moving. It will be an all new store. Even at this late date, we have not settled quite yet on the new spot for it, but are very close and hope to do so on the 10th or 11th once our over worked attorney gets through reading one more tedious lease document.

Part of the delay has been occasioned by our efforts to explore every possibility for keeping the store pretty close to its current location. Unfortunately, that is not looking possible.
We are unlikely to be any closer than
the new Garland Road store for some time to come.
I will be happy to share the details of any of this with you if you'll ask.
(There is a little more info on our Facebook page.)

It hurts us to think of not having a store in this area after so many years, so we ernestly hope that the real estate situation around here will settle back down in a year or two and we can return with a new store in a new location.

If some of you can band together to buy a suitable building to house us, it would certainly help and might be the only way to have a bookstore in an area like this economically. (I do have some ideas on some potentially practical considerations in this regard if anyone wants to pursue this approach.)

More on this later...

THE FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

We want you all to know that the building for this Dallas location has been sold.

However, the store itself has not been sold and will continue to operate in this location for the next couple of months.

We are looking for a new location in this area and will let everyone know as soon as we have made arrangements for the best one we can find.

Our plan at this time is to keep this store open and operating until the new location is ready to open its doors to you.

This building has been a great home to the bookstore, and we have a lot of sentimental feelings about it as we know many of you do.

However, there are a variety of circumstances that made it unfeasible for us to continue within it.

We sincerely hope to make the new place as inviting, if not more so.

There is not much more that we know right now, so we would appreciate it if you could keep the questions
to a minimum. Just be sure that we have your current mailing address
so that we will have a way to contact you once the new location is arranged.

Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

“Please Stay Tuned For More Developments.”
