At Paperbacks Plus, 6115 La Vista, Dallas, Texas

The Oasis Film Society is a creation of Scott Means, a true lover of cinema, good and baaaad. With the help of co-producers filmmaker Bill Daniel, and filmfan Cindy Johnson, an interesting series of sometimes important and sometimes fun programs were presented to East Dallas every Saturday evening for the last few months of 1995 including appearances by Jayne Loader of Atomic Cafe fame and the reknown Ken Harrison who returns later this month.

Oasis took a break to try to secure more equipment which has lasted more than 2 years. We have recently acquired some but donations of equipment or maintenance on existing equipment may still be necessary to resume. Please talk to Scott about his needs and your resources. He has done all this without even the proverbial shoestring, showing great dedication.

If you are a film or video maker who might like to take advantage of this unique venue to share your work, please feel free to talk to Scott about what plans he has for getting going again and what you do and see if there is a fit. There is equipment for showing 8mm and 16mm formats as well as 1/2" video.

Watch this space for word of future programs. And for those of you who are really hard up for a "cam" fix, check out the "Kitchen Cam" in the cafe at the Toasted website on our webpage Other Links We Like off of the Lucky Dog Books page.

Go to the cafe and then pick "Voyuer". And email us back with your answer to the mystery question: What comes down the yellow slide?
