CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF BOOKSTORES

We will give a free book to each of the first 40 customers at each store each day as one of the features of Part 1 of our 40 Years of Bookstores celebration which will run from Monday, February 18th through Sunday, February 24th.

This free book will be mostly the choice of the customer with us reserving a right of veto. The "free book" does not actually have to be a "book" but can be any type of item that we sell as recycled.

Here's how we imagine it will work:

1) If you are one of the first 40 on a given day, you will be given something as you enter the store that will identify you as one of the eligible customer for that day..

2) You will go ahead and browse or shop as you normally would although no purchase is required.

3) When you are ready to leave, we will look at what you have selected and let you know what we can do.

4) If you have selected books to purchase, we will most likely give you the best of those assuming its value isn't that far removed from most of what you have selected.

For example, if someone selected 3 or 4 pocket size paperback novels and a $25 art book, we're probably not going to make the art book the free book. Unless one is buying some books of unusual value, we will be looking to limit things to a max of $10-12 as our normal price before store credit would have been applied.
So someone with those novels might like a hard cover copy of a favorite author, a nice children's picture book, or a movie to take home with the books.

5) If you have just selected something for the free item, and it is within the values mentioned above; just return the thing we gave you when you entered and we will most likely give you your selection.

We know that this is a little vague and subjective, but we would like for each customer to have as much chance to get something that really suits them as we can manage.

Our intention is to be as generous as possible within reason. So please try to remain cordial and look for another item if we should have to turn something down. Our staff member will be trying to make the proper decision for all concerned.

If the staff member taking care of you doesn't feel comfortable with what would be your choice and you're not sure why, please ask them to put the item on hold for you with a message for me to take a look and get back to you. If I agree with our staff, you will still have a chance to give it another try when you are next back in the store.

My name is John, and you can always leave a message for me to call you or you can drop me an email at John@luckydogbooks.com or through our website.

Thanks for your patronage over so many years.
